Colleen Gutman

Colleen K. Gutman, MD Assistant Professor, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, University of Florida College of Medicine Dr. Colleen Gutman is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Gutman obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and her medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her residency and served as a chief resident in pediatrics at the University of Washington before completing a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Emory University.

Dr. Gutman’s research aims to promote equity in pediatric emergency care by understanding and addressing health disparities that are based on patient race, ethnicity, and language preference. Her research is focused on health equity and patient-centered communication. She is funded by a KL2 award from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences and the University of Florida Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Her current work seeks to understand how implicit racial bias impacts physician-parent communication and medical decision making in the emergency management of young infants with fever.
