Peter K. Lindenauer, MD, MSc, FACP, Director of the Center for Quality of Care Research, Baystate Medical Center
Dr. Lindenauer is also a board-certified practicing hospitalist and Director of the Center for Quality of Care Research at Baystate Medical Center, Associate Professor of Medicine at the Tufts University School of Medicine, and Co-Director of the University of Massachusetts Medical School Institute for Healthcare Delivery and Population Science. His research focuses on measuring the quality and outcomes of hospital care for patients with common medical conditions, evaluating the effectiveness of acute treatments and care strategies, and the design, implementation and evaluation of interventions to improve care delivery.
Dr Lindenauer’s research is supported by grants from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute of the NIH. He is the author of more than 175 peer-reviewed papers. In 2008 he received the excellence in research award from the Society of Hospital Medicine, for which he was a founding Board member; in 2012 he was named a Master in Hospital Medicine; and in 2013 he received Baystate’s Weinberg Family Award for academic excellence. He has served on multiple NIH study sections focused on health services research, dissemination and implementation, and career development awards. Dr Lindenauer is a graduate of the University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and he completed a residency and chief residency in internal medicine at the University of California San Francisco.
