Scott Williams

Scott Williams, PsyD, Director, Department of Research, The Joint Commission.

Scott Williams, PsyD, directs The Joint Commission’s Department of Research, providing oversight and support for a broad range of research topics. His current work is focused on analysis, interpretation and visualization of data to continuously evaluate and improve the Joint Commission’s impact and value as a quality improvement and accrediting organization. He has he has served as a principal investigator or co-investigator on numerous health services research projects and as a scientific reviewer for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). In his tenure at the Joint Commission, he has designed and implemented the evaluation protocols for several multi-site, multi-year quality improvement projects, and he has directed the development and field testing of nationally standardized performance measures.

Dr. Williams received his PsyD in counseling psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and earned an MA in counseling psychology from the University of Denver. He practiced as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Illinois for thirteen years, and he served for eight years as an Intelligence Specialist with the United States Naval Reserve.
