Susan D. Moffatt-Bruce, MD, PhD, FACS, FRCS(C), Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center
Dr. Moffatt-Bruce is also Professor of Surgery; Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, Quality and Patient Safety, and Biomedical Informatics; and the Principle Investigator of the Institute for the Design of Environments Aligned for Patient Safety at the Ohio State University. Since taking on the role of Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer she has worked to really engage every member of the team in quality and patient safety using continuous improvement as the platform for success. She has implemented Crew Resource Management training across an entire academic medical center and leveraged this training to facilitate grass roots approaches in all areas of the hospitals and clinics to identify problems and find sustainable solutions. She is currently the executive lead for Clinical Care Transformation across the clinical enterprise of 1,300 beds and six integrated hospitals.
Dr. Moffatt-Bruce’s research interests include engaging teams in quality and patient safety, return on investment for quality and patient safety initiatives, public reporting and its implications, data analytics relative to value creation, and residency training in quality and patient safety.
